Worry-Free

A businessman realized how his financial interests were causing him to spend a great deal of time worrying. One day, he decided to make an appointment to set aside twenty minutes to worry about money. The appointment began at one o’clock.

He sat in his desk chair and started to worry about money. About five minutes into his worry time, he realized something. It was a total waste of time, so he decided to quit worrying.

Jesus asked, “Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?” (Matthew 6:27).

That extra hour of life that we are seeking by worrying is infinitely found in wisdom. Solomon noted, “Wisdom is a shelter as money is a shelter, but the advantage of knowledge is this: that wisdom preserves the life of its possessor” (Ecclesiastes 7:12). The psalmist added that the person who humbly trusts God will have no fear, and his heart will be secure (Psalm 112:7-8).

Write down everything that worries you. Then pray about the things on the page in front of you. Give them to God, the only One who can heal your concerns and give you wisdom for each day.
