Rest

Are you attempting a self-restoration program to earn your way to God?

Too often, sand hearts try to become stone hearts to regain their position with their Father, much like the younger brother in Jesus’ parable recorded in Luke 15. He had tried to contrive a plan where he would work his way into the family business as a hired hand, thus earning his right to return. Sand hearts often become stone hearts in their process of self-restoration. Sand hearts are weary from their license. Stone hearts are burdened with their legalism.

Jesus said, “Come to me, you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28). This short verse offers the Master Key that unlocks the gate to Restoration Road.

“Rest” is synonymous with “restoration.” In order to receive it, we must humbly come with a heart of clay, one that recognizes its journey through sand and stone, to the humble heart of the Restorer. Humility is the Master Key that unlocks the gate to Restoration Road.

Rather than attempting to clean yourself up to come to Christ, come to Christ and get cleaned up. Bring your heart of sand and stone to the One who will give you rest and make you new again.
