CUTE GIRLS MADE: Confident (Proverbs 3:26)

Is there anything you would like to change about your look? Body image is one of the most pressing challenges with females in our Western culture; however, the Bible communicates a recurring theme: True beauty comes from the inside. Let’s examine what the Scriptures teach about God’s design of a woman through the acrostic: CUTE GIRLS MADE.

Confidence comes from a relationship with God. Solomon said: “The LORD is your confidence” (Proverbs 3:26 NIV 1984). Too often, a woman feels pressure to attain confidence from the outside-in, pursuing a certain hairstyle, wardrobe, makeup, achievement, or fitness regimen. While these external positives might offer temporary satisfaction, with the latter providing relaxed energy and additional health benefits, they fall short of the confidence our culture falsely promises from them because they cause us to trust in ourselves. The result is insecurity, which kills relationships.

Confidence literally means “to trust together.” In order to experience the assurance our Creator offers, we must wholeheartedly exercise faith in Him. Intimacy with God in Christ releases true, eternal confidence because His Holy Spirit guides us and cares for our every need. We can fully rely on the Spirit of Christ to be true all of the time. He frees us from the pressures to look or act a particular way that fits the latest craze. Rather, we rest assured in the peace that He loves us, regardless of our circumstances, including how we look on the outside. His undeserved love, His unmerited favor, empowers us to be authentic with everyone we encounter.

Do you have insecurities that are hindering your confidence, and consequently, your relationships? Surrender them to Christ who will free you to discover your confidence in Him. Not a mark on your face compares to the ultimate confidence of basking in God’s grace.
